Innovation & Demonstration Center
Northeast Community College plays an integral role in fostering educational opportunities for students and the community it serves. To increase awareness and understanding about the evolving changes of agriculture, more innovative and experiential learning facilities are needed.
The Need
Emerging Opportunity for Sustainable Agriculture
Developing an innovation & demonstration facility at the Agriculture & Water Center of Excellence will allow us to explore new ways of educating students, both young and old, as well as the thousands of visitors who attend events at the complex each year.
Not only will it demonstrate the rich history and traditions of agriculture in Nebraska, but it will also be a way to showcase new and exciting innovations redefining how we look at agriculture.
The current Chuck M. Pohlman Agriculture Complex:
- Does not provide adequate space for events
- Provides limited educational resources to the community
- Does not maximize its use as an educational facility with thousands of visitors annually
The Plan
Increase Learning Opportunities & Student Success
The expanded space will support local, regional, and national industry partners while providing innovative education, demonstration, and training opportunities to support dissemination of information, knowledge, and best practices to advance the nation’s economy.
- Extend lobby space of the Chuck M. Pohlman Agriculture Complex and provide more space for use during high-traffic events
- Strengthen Northeast Community College’s partnership with business and industry and area communities
- Improve experiential learning for all ages with interactive displays
- Excite the next generation of farmer and rancher scientists by featuring some of the latest technologies and innovations
