Northeast Community College’s Chuck M. Pohlman Agriculture Complex in Norfolk was the site of the FFA District Livestock Judging Contest recently. Four-hundred-eighty-two contestants from 43 schools participated in the event.

An accounting variation of the popular board game “Monopoly” has been included in Northeast Community College’s Farm and Ranch management class. Instructor Brandon Keller says the game takes accounting out of a formal business education lecture and puts it more into an interactive experience for students.

These training are targeted to those employed or involved in agribusinesses and industry. A three-year grant from the National Science Foundation is providing increased training opportunities for both employees and producers.

Northeast Community College has been conducting its cover crop experiments for five-years. In that time, the students and their instructors have seen organic matter in the soil increase by 63-percent.
